Pollution Control Specialist | Toril, Davao  

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the full and correct implementation of government environmental regulations and standards and the implementation of the Environmental Program of the AP Generation Group within the facility and immediate community, among its personnel and in its operations and work processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitors adherence by all departments to the EMS to ensure the plant’s compliance to the environmental laws and regulations.
• Conducts regular sampling of mandated environmental indicators, within and outside the plant to monitor water, noise, soil and air quality for submission to accredited laboratories for testing.
• Reviews laboratory analysis reports to monitor compliance with mandated levels. Reports elevated levels or levels exceeding mandated standards to the Environmental Supervisor for corrective action.
• Compiles and monitors data on environmental indices to facilitate historical review for continuing evaluation for policy review , formulation and implementation .
• Monitors the proper collection, packaging, labeling, storage and disposal of solid and hazardous wastes in accordance with mandated regulations and AP Generation’s policies and procedures.
• Conducts regular inspection of the facility to check for leaks, discharges and other abnormal environmental conditions. Reports findings to the Environmental Supervisor for appropriate action.
• Drafts and submits reports to the Environmental Supervisor for review and submission to regulatory agencies.
• Provides logistical support in the quarterly inspection/ monitoring activities of the Multipartite Monitoring Team in the plant
• Assists Environmental Supervisor in the registration and/or renewal requirements of permits of the plant.
• Provides data to the Environmental Supervisor for the preparation and submission of the semi-annual compliance monitoring report and quarterly self-monitoring report.
• Represents the company in environment activities sponsored by EMB in the absence of the Environmental Supervisor.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering / Environmental Studies or Science, and other relevant field of study
• At least 2 years of working experience as Environmental Technician in a Power Plant or related industry
• Must be an Accredited Pollution Control Officer I (DENR)
• Must be willing to be assigned in Toril, Davao City

Competencies:

• Knowledge of environmental laws: RA 9003, RA 6969, RA 8749, RA 9275, and PD 1586 and their implementing rules and regulations.
• Ability to apply correctly environmental rules and regulations in the workplace.
