Job Description

The Brand Strategist role produces the main source of revenue of Consulting Operations: strategy recommendations. He/she is responsible for developing strategies based on a comprehensive set of analyzed data, using Knowledge Center-developed guidelines (framework, process, criteria) or global/external best practice benchmarks and applies these guidelines/benchmarks to the particular business reality and need of the client, guided by the Acumen Client Director. The brand strategist is a core member of the Consulting project team which will also include the Acumen Client Director and the analytical team. The brand strategist also takes on the role of project management.
The essential tasks and activities are:
1. Project Design and Lead Discovery Phase
- Work closely with Client Director, Business Development Director and Knowledge Center (to include Subject Matter Experts) to identify the base strategic frameworks to be used per project; then customize and adapt to each client/project needs. This will be done as part of the Business Development Project Design phase, with adjustments as needed during project implementation.
- Develop the Analytical Plan for each project based on the agreed-to strategic framework, working closely with the Client Director and Knowledge Center to ensure it will provide the necessary foundation for Relevant, Value-adding and Actionable (RVA) strategic recommendations and all required output as per project scope.
- Oversee the analysis done by the team – Research & Analytics Lead and project team (composed of Client Director, strategists). Provide guidance and direction to the analytical team.
- Integrate all the analysis and distill into key learnings.
2. Strategy Development
- Develop the strategies required as per project scope, based on a sound distillation of the Discovery Phase. This may be Brand Strategy and OGSM (Objectives, Goals. Strategies and Measures).
- Work closely with the Client Director and Project Manager to distill into RVA recommendations.
3. Communications Development
- Develop the Communications Planner, working closely with the Client Director, in all phases of the project. This will include the objectives per meeting, the outline and the necessary depth of details.
- Develop (or lead), be responsible for and oversee the creation of the Checkpoint decks. Work closely with the project team and shared services in the production of the decks.
- Co-present parts of Checkpoint Presentations, as agreed with the Client Director.
4. Project Management
- Lead client management, ensuring that the client is updated on progress and feedback is secured.
- Take the lead in preparing the workplan, as per playbook timelines and responsibilities – working closely with the Client Director.
- Ensure there is follow through on all agreements during internal and client meetings.
- Prepare regular project updates and communicate with the rest of the project team and the Operations Director.
- Identify and recommend necessary Project Design and Process revisions in close coordination with the Client Director.
- Monitor completion of all administrative requirements of the projects.
- Perform knowledge capture (content, process, client learnings, team and client feedback, etc.) during and post the project for Knowledge Center library optimization.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3-10 years work experience related to brand management or consumer market research, of which 2-5 years had strategy development work
- Significant exposure to Brand Management, Consumer Market Research, Insight Mining and Brand Positioning
- Has a deep empathy for the consumer and can put together compelling consumer profiles and insights
- Has a talent for spotting relevant relationships across data points, simplifying and organizing the complex
- Has passion for rapid and continuous learning, discovery and growth
