Designer  

Key Responsibilities:

Art and Design Execution

1. Create engaging layouts, infographics, cartoons, illustrations and art requirements for the print in line with editorial standards.
2. Design supplements, advertorials, print ads for special executions, custom publications, section pages, ad materials based on organization and client’s specification and requirements.
3. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and visual impact across all design deliverables

Visual Standards and Quality Control

1. Review and refine designs to enhance storytelling, clarity and impact.
2. Conduct regular checks to ensure design integrity, accuracy, and adherence to editorial style.
3. Ensure compliance with legal standards, rights management and internal editorial policies
4. Collaborate with editors, reporters, and photographers to enhance storytelling through effective design.
5. Uphold the publication’s visual identity and design standards for the integrated newsroom.
6. Implement feedback from Art Section Sr. Officer, editors and writers to continuously improve design outputs.

Cross-Platform Editorial Collaboration

1. Work closely with the integrated newsroom to adapt visual assets for different platforms.
2. Participates in the editorial planning meetings to understand story angles and design requirements.
3. Support the development of visuals that can be leveraged across print, digital, and social media.

Workflow and Production Support

1. Assist in maintaining and updating layout templates, typographic systems, and design assets.
2. Collaborate with the production team to ensure timely design handoffs and smooth publication processes.

Additional Tasks

1. Participate in initiatives that promote innovation in visual storytelling.
2. Support internal training or team discussions on design best practices, tools, or new trends
3. Perform other related arts and design tasks as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Visual Communication, Multimedia Arts or related field
2. Preferably with 1–2 years of relevant experience as a graphic design, preferably in a newsroom or print environment.
3. Experience working with editorial teams and an understanding of publication design processes is an advantage.
4. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and other design software.
5. Strong sense of typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
6. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
7. Effective communicator and team player, able to collaborate across departments
8. Familiarity with the integrated newsroom principles is an advantage
9. Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-orientated mindset
