Finance Manager | Category Financial Planning  

Job Objectives

• Consolidate by-category financial plans from the outputs of the category and brand business teams
• Work with the Category Managers and Category Business Teams OO and CGP in evaluating and identifying strategic areas for the group
• Evaluate prospective target companies and brands for acquisition or joint venture, together with Category Managers
• Recommend the most commercially sound business model for Categories (operations research/cost-benefit analysis)
• Partner with Category Management in other functions and with general management in ensuring profitable growth of total company

Duties and Responsibilities

A. Communication

• Communicates by-category financial plans via regular management reports and ad hoc presentations to senior management

B. Accountabilities

• Accountable for integrity and accuracy of by-category financial plans
• Assesses the external environment through environmental scanning - including but not limited to industry analysis, determining market attractiveness, current and future businesses, data build-up and monitoring of economic indicators such as population, GDP, ForEx, inflation, socio-economic classes, per capita consumption of existing and potential categories or business (food and related industries).
• Ensure that outputs of the environmental scanning activity will serve as input to the planning process
• Manages the Annual Operating Plan (AOP)/QOP for the Categories. In partnership with Corporate Financial Planning, includes providing framework for the process and leading the process, integrating the plans and monitoring actual performance vs. plans
• Drives and influences business results through partnering with Corporate Financial Planning, Supply Chain Finance, Sales Finance, Category and Channel Management, and the rest of the organization by undertaking the following activities among others:
  • Analysis of gross sales (volume and price)
  • Analysis of net sales (permanent and temporary price reduction)
  • Gross margin analyses with recommendation on potential rationalization
  • Promotions evaluation (spend vs. benefit, pre- and post-evaluation)
  • Overhead analysis and control
  • Activity-based and economic value-added analysis
• Evaluates capital investments for the Category in partnership with Supply Chain Finance
• Identifies, evaluates, and implements for the Category in partnership with Supply Chain Finance
• Provides advisory services to management as required to ensure value creation

C. Authority

• Authority over assumptions and content of by-category financial plans

• Business course graduate, CPA and / or MBA graduate will be an advantage
• At least 5-10 years of relevant managerial experience in corporate and category planning and in all facets of management accounting - budgeting, financial planning, cost accounting, discounted cash flow analysis, activity-based cost management, economic value-added, etc.
