Garment Sample Supervisor  

Overview: The Garment Sample Supervisor is responsible for creating and developing sample garments for a children's dress company. This role involves overseeing the sample-making process from concept to completion, ensuring that samples are constructed accurately and according to design specifications. The Garment Sample Supervisor will lead a team of sample makers, providing guidance, training, and feedback to meet the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sample Development: Coordinate with the design team to understand design concepts and technical requirements for sample garments. Oversee the development of sample garments, including pattern making, cutting, sewing, and fitting.
2. Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality inspections of sample garments to ensure they meet design specifications, fit requirements, and quality standards. Identify and address any issues or discrepancies in sample construction.
3. Team Management: Supervise and provide leadership to a team of sample makers, assigning tasks, providing training, and offering guidance to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output. Monitor team performance and address any performance issues as needed.
4. Collaboration: Collaborate with designers, pattern makers, Merchandisers, fitters, quality control personnel, and production teams to communicate feedback on sample garments and facilitate necessary revisions or adjustments. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of sample development into the production process.
5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of sample development processes and output versus targets, including pattern revisions, fitting notes, and quality assessments. Ensure that all documentation is organized and accessible for reference throughout the production process.
6. Continuous Improvement: Stay current on industry trends, garment construction techniques, and children's fashion preferences. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and quality in sample development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Engineering, Textile Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience in garment construction, pattern making, and sample development, preferably in children's apparel.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality, with the ability to identify and address issues in sample construction.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant software applications.
