Job Description

This is a full-time, long-term remote role supporting property management companies with corporate accounting, monthly financial reviews, payroll recording, reconciliations, and accounting cleanup.

Mission of the Role

The objective of this position is to deliver the ProfitCoach Experience (owning the outcome, ease of doing business, and extraordinary service) to ProfitCoach clients through quality assurance reviews, client relationship and account management that delivers accurate, timely, and efficient full-service accounting, while also maintaining an awareness of the unique needs and profit-growing/stewardship opportunities of each individual client.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Corporate Accounting Specialist is to assist in any activities related to monthly financial reviews, bank feed updates, payroll recording, client communications, and periodic client accounting clean-up.

Minimum Qualifications

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Processing Bank Feeds: The Corporate Accounting Specialist will assist in coding all transactions from each bank or credit card account in the client bank feeds according to the written processes. This is the primary responsibility of this role, and it is anticipated that this role will service around 25+ clients once trained and at full capacity. The number of clients assigned depends on client size, number of transactions, and nuances associated with each client. The process entails:

  • Review and match transactions
  • Cross-check and review rules, making suggestions for recurring transactions
  • Perform research to determine suggested coding
  • Write or Record questions to present to clients

Bank Account Reconciliations: The Corporate Accounting Specialist will assist with the end-of-month reconciliation process for each client account that they are assigned, which would be 25+ clients.

  • Review weekly uncleared transactions and determine or suggest solution for client
  • Pull all account statements
  • Perform reconciliations as defined by written process
  • Research any issues that arise in this process, submitting suggested resolutions to the Senior Corporate Accounting Specialist

Credit Card Reconciliations: The Corporate Accounting Specialist will assist in performing reconciliation of the credit cards for the clients they are assigned.

  • Pull statements and create individual lists for presentation to cardholders
  • Divide charges and code according to the NARPM accounting standards
  • Suggest and cross-check coding
  • Create template for upload to Quickbooks

Monthly Financial Review:

  • Write emails to clients following up on routine income or expenses not recorded for the current month
  • Cross check financial statements and activity for accuracy
  • Assist in responding to client questions regarding transaction coding decisions and accuracy

Payroll Recording: Recording payroll transactions for clients.

  • Based on Labor Allocation Reports and supporting documentation, use templates to create journal entries for property due to/from, payroll fees, and corporate payroll
  • Upload entries to Quickbooks (and/or Xero)
  • Book all benefit bills
  • Cross check amounts in clearing accounts

Accounting Cleanup: Assisting with clean-up and review of the following items as requested by other team members:

  • Revenue coding
  • Payroll
  • Balance sheet accounts
  • Strong familiarity with accounting best practices
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Efficient (fast) at identifying and resolving issues

Required Qualifications:

  • Background in Accounting or proven understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Good written communication
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Able to understand new concepts with written and hands-on support
  • Experience in Quickbooks Online (QBO)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Xero
  • Understanding of property management accounting
  • Familiarity with the NARPM Standard Chart of Accounts
  • Experience in AppFolio, navigating to reports
  • Payroll processing and payroll tax filing experience
  • Prior experience with financial auditing or financial review
