Job Description

Job Summary:

The Marker Maker is responsible for creating optimized fabric layouts (markers) for children's dresses using Lectra CAD software. The primary goal is to minimize fabric wastage while ensuring that all pattern pieces are accurately placed according to fabric type, grainline, and design specifications. The role plays a crucial part in cost-effective and efficient garment production.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and generate efficient markers for children’s dress patterns using Lectra Modaris and Diamino software and Flex application.
  • Ensure markers comply with production specs, grainline directions, fabric types (e.g., one-way prints, stripes), and cutting requirements.
  • Create size sets and bulk production markers according to the production plan.
  • Maximize fabric utilization and minimize fabric wastage by strategically placing pattern pieces.
  • Recommend layout adjustments and pattern modifications to improve marker efficiency without compromising garment quality.
  • Coordinate with pattern makers, sample room, cutting department, production and merchandising teams to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of marker production.
  • Communicate any discrepancies in pattern pieces, fabric widths, or style details to the appropriate departments.
  • Maintain records of marker efficiency, fabric consumption, and marker versions.
  • Provide marker consumption reports for costing and production planning.
  • Adhere to quality standards in marker making, ensuring accurate alignment and no missing components.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures within the CAD and cutting environment.
  • Attends to re-marker and re – consumption request from merchandising, cutting and production teams.

Minimum Qualifications

What we're looking for:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Garment Technology, Fashion Design, Apparel Production, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in marker making, preferably in children's wear garments.
  • Proficient in Lectra systems – specifically Modaris (pattern-making) and Diamino (marker-making) and Flex application.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric behavior, shrinkage, and grainline principles.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and multitask.
